MEICHER CPAS, LLP
Celebrating the value of sound financial relationships
Forty years is a long time for a business to survive, especially one that was launched during an economic recession. Back in 1981, interest rates were through the roof and the cost of borrowing was a major reason for business failures, so it might not have struck many people as a good time to start an accounting business. But that’s where Gordon “Gordy” Meicher’s counterintuitive instincts kicked in because he felt that business owners and individuals needed quality financial services more than ever.
How was the company started?
Meicher CPAs was founded in 1981 by Gordon and Kristy Meicher. Gordon had worked as a CPA at several well-established public accounting firms, but he wanted to build a firm around the principles of fast, personalized client service. Armed with a $5,000 loan from Kristy’s parents and a genuine desire to help improve people’s financial lives, they started Meicher CPAs. Forty years later, the firm has grown to 12 partners and 25 professional staff an unequaled reputation for high-quality service and personalized service.
How has your industry changed?
Like many industries, public accounting has evolved with technology over
the years. Meicher CPAs was built upon the value of client relationships, so every tax season our offices are full of clients for in-person meetings. Over the last 10 years, and especially in the last year, we have lever- aged technology to connect with our clients no matter where their lives or business takes them. We can offer recommendations on accounting software, use sophisticated tax planning tools, and streamline multistate tax reporting.
To what do you attribute your company’s success and longevity?
Our success and longevity can largely be attributed to client and employee loyalty. We know we are “only as good as our next touchdown,” and we’re always striving to make real recommendations to help our clients better their financial lives. Our goal is that they will tell all their friends about us and never look for a new CPA again. We invest in our employees’ training, advancement, and truly support a healthy work/life balance, so they never want to look for a new job again. We believe in the value of relationships and live that motto every day.
